All last season’s questions about Arsene Wenger’s future have re-surfaced after a defeat that as embarrassing as it was comprehensive.

It is six years ago today since they were beaten 8-2 by Manchester United at Old Trafford and nothing seems to have changed.Liverpool were good, very good, and would have destroyed many teams on this form but Arsenal showed a lack of organisation, discipline and, worst of all, desire and determination as they crashed to a second successive Premier League defeat.
Wenger signed a new two-year deal at the Emirates Stadium but there on this evidence he might not see out the season as Gunners fans went into social media meltdown last night after one of the meekest surrenders in the club’s proud history.
There is even talk of boycotting the next home game against Bournemouth such was the disgust at the performance. As Wenger admitted afterwards, his team were outfought from the first minute to the last and provided “easy opposition” for a Liverpool team who could easily have doubled their winning margin.
Wenger had no option but to offer a damning assessment of his team’s performance but wasn’t prepared to offer any reasons. His decision to leave record signing Alexandre Lacazette on the bench looked strange but in the final analysis it probably would not have made any difference if the French striker had started, so bad were his team-mates.
If there was enough time left before the window closes, it might be best if Gunners sold want-away stars Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and use the £100m income on a complete re-build.
After a summer of uncertainty over his future, Sanchez was back for his first start but was soon shaking his head in exasperation at the ineptitude around him. This was exactly the sort of display why he is so anxious to leave.
After such an awful team performance it seems unfair to single out one player. But Mesut Ozil was at his anonymous best.
It is difficult to contain Liverpool’s high-pressing, high-tempo game at the best of times. But when a team is not willing to graft and constantly gives the ball away, they have no chance.
And so it was yesterday. Liverpool could have been ahead even before Joe Gomez intercepted Granit Xhaka pass and after exchanging pass with Georgino Wijnaldum crossed for Roberto Firmino to race unmarked into the penalty area to score with a downward header
